2016 Max Ehrmann Poetry Competition Announcement

Art Spaces in partnership with ISU Community School of the Arts is pleased to announce the theme of the 2016 Max Ehrmann Poetry Competion, You ar a Child of the Universe: Poems of Belonging and Not Belonging.

This year’s theme is based on a line from Max Ehrmann’s best known poem, Desiderata, “You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars you have a right to be here”.

Max held to a philosophy of inclusion, for people of any background, religious persuasion, or even personality. We ask that people submitting works to this year’s competition consider ideas of belonging and /or not belonging.
